(Early) Monday Morning Thoughts

- In case you are new the site, I might do a bunch of things here, a lot. So don't be surprised if I comment on this, that and the other thing. In fact that will happen a lot. Let's get to my weekend.

-I went to the "Deck the Halls" rendition of the Finger Lakes, markedly Seneca Lake. It's a ton of fun and I'd recommend it for a nice couples' retreat. The wife and I hit 29 wineries and two great restaurants – Glenora and the Harbor Inn. Back to sports.

- I backed Cung Lee in a fight I was sure he'd win. Facing W. Silva and knowing Sanshou he'd (Lee) would be an easy win, right? He lost and now I've added a "T" to Cung Lee's name…

-Blah, but it was definitely some comfort that Dan Henderson won at the old age of 41, let's just say I wouldn't mess with him. And this is coming from a Buffalo guy where Mike Williams (TB), Jon Jones (Rochester) and Abby Wambach (my wife played against her!) are from. I'm so collecting Western NY here, bear with me.

- I've been ragging on the NY guys and while I admire their homer/optimism, I've been trying for weeks to bring them back to reality. No one has wanted to hear their optimism. I think they will now that the GMen and Jets have both lost two in a row.

- There were more tipped interceptions today than I think I've seen in any week, ever. Correct me if I'm wrong.

- The Sprint Cup series final race between the late games and the obvious Giants loss was memorable. It shouldn't be shocking that a Chevy beat a Ford (Fix Or Repair Daily). And yes, food and my tuition were put on the table by the local GM plant in Rochester, NY and namely my father. (For the record too, my cousins have some sick GTOs, the best one being a mint Judge).

- I'm starting to think there will be no winners in the NBA Lockout. This isn't baseball or football folks.

- Jake Locker played great Sunday, but whoever is financially advising him is an idiot. He lost at least $20 million by not coming out sooner from college and that's a low estimate. $40-50 million is a more accurate sum.

- I was bombarded on my weekly Cleveland radio show this week with questions about Matthew Stafford. Without hesitation, I answered he should be played over most QBs. He ended the day with a 335-yard passing effort with 5 TDs and 2 Ints. I don't envy those ranking Kevin Smith this week, the kid is only 24, is he not good (after knee injuries) or were the six teams that passed on him nuts? And for the record, when he blew his knee out against the Ravens, Maurice Morris took over for him. A Keiland Williams' fumble and now it's vice versa between him and Morris, no? And the lack of a TD today for Megatron was because the Panthers were fine with letting Smith, Burleson and Young scoring as long as the CJ didn't score. However he did break the 1,000 receiving mark while Steve Smith did not (although he caught a TD).

- I've been trying to figure out if Homeland or American Horror Story is the best new series on TV. What say you peeps?

- If you acquire Ty Wiggington, isn't Brian Schneider enough to be the PTBNL considering the Rockies catching woes? Of course I'm being facetious here (…or not).

- I said this in the live blog. If I see someone head-hunt like Culver from Miami did on Stevie Johnson, I'd be after him in a heartbeat, see what happened after Eli got hit throwing an Int Sunday night. And for logic sake (see SF/ARI) don't throw punches at a guy wearing a helmet. Instead, grab the helmet and watch how the person wearing it moves their head wherever you move them to while guiding their facemask.

- Has Tony Sparano saved his job? He's won three straight and the two previous games were both decided by a field goal.

- I'm guessing Duke won't be good this year in college hoops as the usual. Struggling with many teams early isn't a good sign and while they have great guard play, I see little upside with them in the paint.

- Dan Bailey, the Oklahoma State miss late in regulation. What are: "Things that should have been thoroughly reviewed Alex?"

- Rumor here in Buffalo is that Ryan Miller got married over the summer and hasn't been even close to as sharp as he was in the past, for the Sabres or Team USA. Jhonas Enroth has been a beast and at 23, I'm pretty sure he's the best backup goalie in the NHL. (HOMERISM!)

- Bigger disappointment - Brandon Marshall or Greg Jennings, both notched a zero? Denarius Moore logged a one-point day in scoring leagues as well. (Hint, I might be talking about Chaz Schilens this week….)

- Please rag on me if I've been wrong, I remember last Thanksgiving that Brady after a few slow games killed the Lions via way of Deion Branch. I think the three games on slate will much more interesting.

- My weekly waiver column comes out on FoxSports.com on Tuesday afternoons and you can always find me on Twitter @KCPayne26. Have a great holiday my friends.

- I'm not going to lie either, at this time next week I'd gamble that I've seen the new Muppets movie. You've been warned.
