-The Cardinals have been calling around to see if they can salvage something from the Matt Leinart project. This should be the proverbial nail in the coffin for the starting QB controversy in Arizona. Leinart has shown little as an NFL QB. He doesn't go through his progressions and ends up checking down too much of the time. Arm strength and accuracy are two other skills he lacks which are somewhat important for a QB.
-Antonio Bryant is trying to determine how bad his knee injury is. Isn't this something the Bengals should have known before signing him? Somewhere in Ohio there should be a doctor filling out unemployment forms. There's a chance Bryant could be on the field for some team this year if the injury isn't too serious.
-Knowshon Moreno could get some work in Thursday's preseason game and short of a setback will start come Week 1. Correll Buckhalter might also get some reps in on Thursday and will likely be good to start the regular season.
-Updating my last training camp notes, Michael Bush did have thumb surgery on Monday which means Darren McFadden will likely see plenty of work to start the season.
-Kevin Smith could be cut from the Lions. Personally, I find this hard to believe considering he's only 23 and still accumulated over 1,000 yards from scrimmage last year. It's looking like Jahvid Best will be good for around 20 touches a game to start the season.
-Michael Jenkins could be back for the start of the season. I still like Harry Douglas as a deep sleeper this year.
-Mike Williams has put up a solid preseason and will look to carry that over to the regular season. I'm talking about the Mike Williams in Seattle. He's gotten nothing but great reviews about his conditioning and focus on the field. It shouldn't be surprising that he ended up with Pete Carroll and he's another guy who'll be a nice sleeper. He has elite size and speed and at 26 still has a lot of potential.
-It's looking more and more like Sam Bradford will be the Week 1 starter in St. Louis. This was expected to happen; this is just a bit sooner than the Rams thought. A.J. Feeley's thumb injury has allowed Bradford to get valuable reps with the first team offense. While he doesn't have the greatest receiving corps, Bradford has looked excellent this preseason.
