-It's interesting, Maurice Jones-Drew has been the subject of many injury rumors and the latest was that he's had his knee scoped, which his agent denies. It's a very strange situation as he hasn't been playing (which isn't normal for a #1 back) and now this report comes out. Another report mentions he may have a lateral meniscus problem, which doesn't bode well for cutting. Rashad Jennings needs to be on your radar in deep leagues. For now assume nothing is awry but realize something may be uncovered soon. If MJD trades himself in Chris Liss' expert league, take that as a bad sign. Stay tuned.
-The worst fear was realized in St. Louis as Donnie Avery is out for the season with a likely ACL tear. I already liked Laurent Robinson as a sleeper (and mentioned so on the Satellite radio show a couple weeks back) and this development obviously helps his fantasy prospects. Robinson now has the potential of a Mike Sims-Walker-type season ahead of him. Mardy Gilyard is another WR to keep an eye on.
-Laurence Maroney hasn't been playing but Bill Belichick thinks he can still play a factor in the NE running back committee. Maroney has the most upside of the backfield with Fred Taylor and Sammy Morris (both injury ridden) competing for carries.
-Michael Jenkins is on track to be back on Week 1 or 2. Harry Douglas still makes as a nice sleeper in deeper leagues.
-Rashard Mendenhall does not have a broken arm and is in line to start on Sunday.
-Anthony Gonzalez had three catches for 31 yards on Thursday. I'm a big fan of drafting sleepers from the previous season who didn't work out, yet remain in a nice fantasy offense.
-Joseph Addai claims he's OK after an apparent concussion. Again going with the "last season sleeper hype" I like having Donald Brown on my bench.
-Jermichael Finley had a monster night on Thursday with six catches for 85 yards and a TD. I can't anoint him as the top TE with Antonio Gates still in the league and likely a heavy target of Philip Rivers with Vincent Jackson out. I've seen Finley go as deep as the sixth TE taken which is a joke; don't be afraid to take him as a top-4 TE.
-I'm working on an expert league/public league blog which I should have out this weekend (likely Saturday). I've done about equal amounts of both and you might be surprised to see the differences as to who you should take; where and why (especially in a public league).
