It's funny how things turned out. Could I be more right about Alfonso Soriano? People of little faith that doubted my judgement? How do you feel now?
But what about Todd Helton from whom I was expecting a bounceback? Terrible call. Embarrassing. Forget I even mentioned him. Told you Kosuke Fukudome was going to be a good value though - how could you not give him a mulligan in his first year playing in the states? Anyone remember how bad Kaz Matsui was when he first came over?
Two weeks into the season, we know exactly how things turned out - for the first two weeks. Sure, if you drafted Jason Motte or Lastings Milledge you have some cause for concern, but Soriano, Helton, Fukudome and just about everyone else are still as up in the air as they were on Opening Day.
This point is so obvious it hardly warrants a blog post - except that I find myself actually thinking this way - even though I know better.
It would be an interesting strategy to trade Ian Kinsler, for example, for Jimmy Rollins and an upgrade, or to move Zack Greinke for Ricky Nolasco and a throw-in.
It seems crazy, but is there any relationship between players having a tremendous two weeks and how they do for the last five and a half months? (I'm not talking about injured players who have proven they're healthy, but essentially healthy ones who were assured of their roles heading in).
