Some speculation on the Giants' Daily News blog that the G-Men could acquire Torry Holt, Anquan Boldin or even Edwards.
They also cite "somebody familiar with the Giants' thinking" that Terrell Owens is out of the question.
Setting aside the unreliability of "somebody familiar..." as a Giants fan, I'd rank the acquisitions:
1. Edwards - this is a home run as he's shown what he can do, and just needs to play with focus like he did in 2007. Mathias Kiwanuka, the Giants young pass-rushing defensive end and a mid-round draft pick might be enough to get this done
2. Owens - he'd only get a short-term deal, so there's less downside if he doesn't pan out. Plus they wouldn't have to give up anything to get him as he's a free agent.
3. Boldin - he's a competitor and a great receiver, but he's extremely injury prone, would command a big signing bonus/deal and cost as least as much to acquire as Edwards (Kiwanuka plus a two?)
4. Holt - he'll likely be released anyway, so the Rams would probably move him for a four. He's worth it if the Giants don't do anything else, but only if he can stay healthy, and his upside is limited. Keep in mind that receivers usually age well so long as they stay healthy.
