Selden flashed some scoring upside last season, averaging a career-best 9.3 points and shooting an impressive 40.2 percent from behind the arc. He also established new high-water marks in assists (1.9) and rebounds (1.6) while shooting a career-best 74.8 percent from the charity stripe. Selden was particularly impressive as the season wound down, posting double-digit point totals in seven of his last nine games. He followed that up with strong summer league performances in Utah and Las Vegas, but he could have an uphill battle for playing time in the coming season. The Grizzlies have plenty of candidates for rotation roles at both shooting guard and small forward, the two positions that Selden is capable of playing. Preseason could help sort matters out, with Selden potentially carving out a serviceable role if he can keep up the hot hand he displayed this summer.
