Ulis, during his rookie campaign, arguably had one of the most dramatic pre to post All-Star break role changes of any player last season, jumping from 9.0 minutes to 32.0 minutes per game. That change was largely a function of coach Earl Watson shutting down starting point guard Eric Bledsoe, along with most of the veterans, in mid-March for the remainder of the season. Ulis had a notably heavy workload in April, during the last six games of the season, and responded with impressive play. Over that stretch, he posted 20.7 points, 6.8 assists and 3.8 rebounds across 37.9 minutes per game while shooting 48.5 percent from the field and 37.0 percent from three – making for a great DFS play. That said, he’s still projected to be a legitimate reserve next season behind Bledsoe, limiting his potential Fantasy impact severely. While Ulis has certainly demonstrated his skill as a player, drafting him in most Fantasy formats would be misguided, as he’s unlikely to be Fantasy relevant in year-long formats due to his status as a backup.
