Powe scored 13 points Wednesday at Boston. It marked his second-highest point total of the season, with his highest (14 points) coming on New Year's Day at Chicago.
ANALYSIS
Powe has now played in six straight games for the Grizzlies -- easily his best run of the season. He still has as yet to regain the promising form he showed with Boston before suffering a torn ACL and meniscus in his left knee in April of 2009.

Powe is one of those players who is much more valuable with a limited role on a contending team than he is with a bigger role on a losing one. Even on a bad Cleveland team, he won’t be relied on to play significant minutes.
Powe is the real wild card here. He's coming off a torn ACL and the dreaded micro-fracture surgery. He's not even going to hit the court until February at the earliest. If he does contribute it would be down the stretch and in the playoffs.
Powe didn't get consistent minutes last season, but he showed outstanding potential in his limited opportunities – most notably when he torched the Lakers with a 21-point explosion in just 15 minutes of Game 2. The development of the 2006 second-rounder from Cal makes P.J. Brown an unnecessary luxury – look for Powe's role to expand this year.
Powe was somewhat of a surprise last season as a second-round pick, with seven double-figure scoring games and even one double-double night. However, the arrival of Kevin Garnett and, to a lesser extent, rookie Glen Davis, will mean fewer minutes and less production for the undersized Powe. He should start the season as Garnett’s backup, but Garnett plays at least 40 minutes per game; his backups are not usually good sources of fantasy production. If Davis emerges as many feel he will, Powe’s role could be even further reduced. Powe should not make any sort of fantasy impact this season.
