2024 Fantasy Outlook
Strawther held a minor rotational role as a rookie, averaging 4.5 points and 1.2 rebounds in 10.9 minutes per game across 50 appearances. While known as a three-point specialist, Strawther shot 29.7 percent from deep on 2.8 attempts per game. None of that makes you think Strawther is trending toward a breakout in Year 2. However, that's not all of the equation. The Nuggets, who were reigning champs last year, had a tight backcourt rotation with Jamal Murray, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Michael Porter, Christian Braun, Justin Holiday and Reggie Jackson playing a majority of the minutes. Caldwell-Pope is in Orlando, Jackson signed with Philadelphia and Holiday remains a free agent, leaving a gaping hole in Denver's rotation. The Nuggets' only notable backcourt addition to replace those guys was Russell Westbrook, who's expected to operate as the primary backup to Murray. That leaves Strawther to compete with Braun for the starting shooting guard spot. Braun likely has the upper hand, as he was already a bigger part of the rotation last year, but Strawther's shooting ability would seemingly be a better fit with Nikola Jokic and Aaron Gordon down low. Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary

Julian Strawther was a 2023 WCC First-Team honoree, fueled by 15.5 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. He was a backup on Gonzaga's 2020-21 run to the National Championship game. Strawther also plays for Puerto Rico during international FIBA play. A native of Las Vegas, Strawther's older sister played basketball at UNLV. Strawther is the epitome of a cookie-cutter NBA wing. He buried 40.8 percent of 5.3 three-point attempts per game last season. Strawther held his own as a perimeter defender but didn't show much growth as a true defensive asset schematically. He brings good size and a respectable repertoire around the basket. Strawther's athleticism is another question mark, but he's been consistently reliable for Gonzaga's winning program. Strawther's spot-up shooting skills are proven, and he isn't a liability on defense. Beyond that, it's tough to gauge what components of Strawther's game could be true differentiators. He has the chance to stick if he can evolve as a defender. Stawther assuming a back-end role similar to Sam Hauser with the Celtics is plausible.

ANALYSIS
Strawther has seen an increased role over the past three games in the absence of Jamal Murray (concussion). Even when Murray returns, Strawther may be asked to do a bit more, given the weeks-long recuperation of Aaron Gordon (calf). Strawther's past three performances have been a mixed bag, but it's come out relatively well in the wash, with averages of 13.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.3 steals in 24.0 minutes.

Nuggets coach Michael Malone still hasn't officially named a starting shooting guard from between Strawther and Christian Braun, Ryan Blackburn of MileHighSports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
While Braun's superior defense has made him the presumed favorite for the job, Malone has left the door open for Strawther to potentially handle it instead. It's possible the duo will split the role this season, switching back and forth between the bench depending on matchups. Strawther will need to improve his three-point shooting to see any sort of significant workload in the backcourt rotation after the Gonzaga product shot just 29.7 percent from three-point range as a rookie in 2023-24 over 50 regular-season games.
