Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary

Duane Washington was born in Frankfurt, Germany in March of 2000 while his father was playing basketball for Skyliners Frankfurt. He was raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan and played high school at Grand Rapids Christian High School. Washington averaged 13.1 points and 4.5 assists as a junior before transferring to Sierra Canyon in Los Angeles. At Sierra Canyon, Washington averaged 15.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game while playing alongside Scottie Pippen Jr., Cassius Stanley, and Keyon Martin Jr. Washington received college offers from Butler, Michigan and UCLA, but committed to Ohio State. As a freshman at Ohio State, Washington averaged seven points and 2.5 rebounds per game, playing in 35 games and starting in two for the Buckeyes. His 11.5 points per game were second on the team his sophomore year to go alongside 2.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. As a senior at Ohio State, Washington averaged 16.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game (college career highs in all three), leading the team to a 21-10 season and a two seed in the NCAA March Madness Tournament. Ohio State lost to 15 seeded Oral Roberts in the first round and Washington missed a buzzer-beater which would have tied the game in overtime. Following a disappointing end to the season, Washington declared for the 2021 NBA draft but went undrafted. Washington signed a two-way contract with the Indiana Pacers in August of 2021.

The Hornets waived Washington on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Charlotte will cut Washington just one week after acquiring him as part of the three-team deal that sent Karl-Anthony Towns to the Knicks and Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo to the Timberwolves. The Hornets mostly took on Washington for salary-matching purposes, as the guard agreed to re-sign with the Knicks on a three-year, $6.97 million contract before he was moved to Charlotte, who also received DaQuan Jeffries, Charlie Brown, three future second-round picks and $7.2 million while giving up only the rights to 2023 second-round pick James Nnaji in the deal. Before he was part of the sign-and-trade deal, Washington was a free agent who had signed a contract with Serbian club Partizan Belgrade. Washington could head overseas now that he's officially a free agent once again.

2022 Fantasy Outlook
Washington will open the season as a two-way player for the Suns, meaning he is unlikely to see the court often. In 48 games for the Pacers during the 2021-22 season, Washington flashed an ability to score the basketball, ending the campaign with four straight games in double digits. Unfortunately, the good news ends there, especially given he is no longer on a roster building for the future. In addition, the Suns are not known for going deep into their bag of resources, meaning he will likely spend a significant portion of the season in the G-League.

GIndiana Pacers
February 6, 2022
Washington is a candidate to become more incorporated in the offense after the Pacers dealt Caris LeVert to Cleveland on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Washington has frequently seen 20-30 minutes per game over the past two months, but is now likely to inherit ballooned volume along with the playing time. The 21-year-old hasn't been overly efficient as a scorer and lacks statistical production across the board, but he's displayed a solid touch from beyond the arc. He is best viewed as a developmental streamer with three-point upside.
