The Wizards selected Carrington with the No. 14 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. In Summer League, he averaged 15.8 points and 2.8 threes on 33/36/86 shooting, 7.4 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.0 steals, 0.6 blocks and 2.4 turnovers in 32.6 minutes. The Pittsburgh product is 6-foot-4 but has a 6-foot-8 wingspan and gets excellent elevation on his jumper, allowing him to shoot over almost anyone. He shot well from three in Summer League but was more of a mid-range assassin in college. Carrington is a smooth but shifty athlete, and it seems to catch defenders off guard. At times, it looks like he's running a drill at 80 percent speed but still manages to shake a defender for a wide-open look. Like in college, Carrington also rebounded well and posted a nice assist-to-turnover ratio. Defense isn't a strength of his, but he made some nice plays on that side of the ball. There's some potential in fantasy this season, especially if Washington can find a way to trade (or even buy out) Malcolm Brogdon. Carrington probably won't start, but based on the depth chart, he could end up with almost free reign to run the second unit. Read Past Outlooks

Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary
Overview
Carlton "Bub" Carrington is a Baltimore native through and through, playing local AAU ball with Team Melo and attending St. Frances Academy before going to Pittsburgh. His tenure at St. Frances was historic, posting shooting splits of 49%/38%/86% and becoming the first player in nearly a decade to score over 1,000 points in a season. He burst on the scene at Pitt, logging a triple-double in his first game and didn't slow down in ACC play either, averaging 13.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game on 40.6%/33.1%/78.5% shooting in 34 minutes per game. With poise beyond his years, Carrington's instincts in snaking pick-and-roll, getting to his spots in the midrange and stepping back into 3-pointers form a dynamic scoring package. Converting just 50.9% of his shots around the basket - 27th percentile nationwide - and attempting just 57 total shots around the basket are oddities given his smooth style and 6-foot-4 5 frame. It also represents a limiting factor in his next-level archetype. His facilitation is an elite counter to his shooting, as Carrington can offset his track record of limited rim penetration with quality passing. Since 2020, the only freshman guards 6-foot-4 and taller to post above a 52% true shooting, a 20% assist rate and knock hit 32% on at least 100 3-pointers are Carrington, Cade Cunningham and Jalen Suggs. Carrington does not have the isolation game that Cunningham displayed, nor does he have defensive tenacity like Suggs. However, Carrington's 2.11 AST/TO ratio with 137 assists is easily the most impressive figure of this trio. There are examples of NBA guards carving out lead offensive roles despite poor finishing, with Cunningham, CJ McCollum, Trae Young, Tyler Herro and Fred VanVleet all hitting less than 51% of their shots around the basket in 2023-24. Carrington's sharp facilitation combined with grading as one of the most efficient upper-paint and midrange guards could ultimately fuel an ascension to the aforementioned tier of stars.
ANALYSIS Carrington walked back to the locker room midway through the fourth quarter grabbing at his side. Considering there are fewer than five minutes left and the Wizards trail by double-digits, it wouldn't be surprising to see Carrington not return.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Option for Orlando?
GFree Agent
June 19, 2024
The Magic are keeping close tabs on Carrington as a potential first-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, according to Ian Begley of SNY.tv.
ANALYSIS The Magic are looking to select a point guard in the first round, and that would mean the end of Markelle Fultz's tenure with Orlando. The franchise holds the No. 18 pick in the draft, and Carrington worked out for Orlando recently while improving his stock during the pre-draft process, so the Magic may have to move up to take him. The floor general showed glimpses of his quality with Pittsburgh in the 2023-24 season, averaging 13.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game as a freshman.
