Past Fantasy Outlooks
2019
2018
Over two NBA seasons, Blakeney's role in Chicago has remained relatively unchanged. After posting nearly identical campaigns, Blakeney is averaging 7.5 points and 1.8 rebounds across 15.0 minutes per game while shooting 35.7 percent from behind the arc. That percentage got a huge boost after last season, where Blakeney shot an impressive 39.6 percent from three-point range. Entering his third season with the Bulls, it would be a surprise if Blakeney's role expanded, and if anything, it could be reduced. A healthy Zach LaVine is locked in as the starting shooting guard and should average well over 30 minutes per game, which likely leaves either Blakeney or Denzel Valentine to likely slot in behind him. Valentine's serious ankle injury that kept him out for all of last season allowed Blakeney to step into a fairly consistent role off the bench, so those two will likely be battling for that role during training camp so long as Valentine is back healthy. If not, the spot in the rotation is almost certainly Blakeney's to lose.
Undrafted in 2017 after two seasons at LSU, Blakeney landed a two-way deal with the Bulls. He won G-League Rookie of the Year, averaging 32.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.2 steals. Blakeney also shot 46.2 percent from the field and hit 2.8 threes per tilt at 35.4 percent. Chicago rewarded his efforts this summer by inking him to a standard, multi-year contract. His role will probably be relatively minimum given the presence of Zach LaVine, but coach Fred Hoiberg managed to find 16.5 minutes per game across his 19 appearances with the parent club in 2017-18. Blakeney can be ignored in most Fantasy formats, but could be someone to keep an eye on for deeper dynasty leagues.
