ANALYSIS
The 33-year-old is far-removed from his days as a standout at Arizona, but he returned to the United States in 2017 after spending the past several years playing overseas. Given his age, Shakur is unlikely to return to the NBA, where he played a combined 25 career games for the Wizards (2010-11) and Thunder (2013-14).

Shakur has no NBA experience, but averaged 16 points a game and earned second-team All-NBDL honors last year with the Tulsa 76ers. He proved to be efficient on the boards too, averaging 4.5 rebounds per game. It's hard to predict how much Shakur will play, but he stands as the lone true point guard on the roster not named Chris Paul now that Darren Collison is in Indiana. Shakur should be in line for decent playing time, and if his raw offensive talent finally translates into the NBA, there's some deep sleeper potential here.
He's a long shot for a bench role as the T-Wolves need a third and possibly fourth point guard. He's played in Poland, Greece and Spain the past two years.
Shakur, an undrafted point guard out of the University of Arizona, will battle for a backup job when camp opens. During his summer league stint for the Kings, he shot a miserable 27.8 percent from the field in five games. In college, there were numerous reports of attitude issues with fellow players and coach Lute Olson. If his shooting woes continue, he’ll have to overcome more than a sour reputation to earn a roster spot.
