Williams truly emerged last season after coach Earl Watson decided to bench most of the veteran players – Tyson Chandler for example – after the All-Star break. Prior to the break, Williams saw just a hair over seven minutes per game and, understandably, failed to produce significant numbers. However, after the festivities concluded, the 6-foot-8 center posted an impressive 11.4 points and 9.1 rebounds across 22.6 minutes per game, thriving as a sparkplug off the bench despite being undersized at the position. While Williams has demonstrated that he’s capable of producing big numbers in limited action, the fact remains that the Suns are dealing with a bit of a logjam at center with him, Alex Len and Tyson Chandler all looking to fight for playing time. For that reason, unless the Suns’ coaching staff comes out and guarantees Williams some sort of significant workload, he’s a very risky player to target for the upcoming in the vast majority of Fantasy formats. That’s not to say he doesn’t have value as a late-round flier in deeper formats, however, as he undoubtedly made his case during the 2016-17 campaign to usurp both Chandler’s and Len’s playing time.
