R.J. Hunter

Hunter is one of three rookies expected to make the Celtics roster for the 2015-16 season. The hope is the 28th pick from Georgia State is able to help with outside shooting. Accurate outside shooting is often a difficult task for rookies, who must adjust to a deeper three-point line and a faster pace of play. During three years of college play, Hunter shot 42 percent from the field, leading his team in scoring all three years. During five games of Las Vegas Summer League play, Hunter showed offensive flashes, scoring 15.6 points per game but shot only 37 percent from the field (granted, that's a small sample size). Playing time could be a struggle for Hunter, who arguably starts the season as the fifth-ranked shooting guard on the Boston depth chart. It will be difficult for coach Brad Stevens to give meaningful minutes to both young snipers Hunter and James Young. Unless a pre-season trade is made to free up minutes, Hunter is probably looking at a season split between the Celtics' bench and the D-League Red Claws.
