After playing in 25 of the first 29 games of the season and averaging 6.6 points and 5.2 rebounds across 16.0 minutes during that stretch, Faried fell out of the rotation in Denver last year. He wound up playing in just eight of the final 53 games and was clearly designated a player that wasn't in the team's plans for the future. As a result, the Nuggets executed a salary dump this offseason, sending Faried and Darrell Arthur to the Nets, in addition to a pair of future draft picks, in exchange for Isaiah Whitehead. While Arthur was waived by Brooklyn, Faried remains on the roster and could potentially contribute right away. Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Jarrett Allen appear to be the top two guys at power forward and center, respectively, which means Faried should battle for a depth role. His main competition will come in the form of Ed Davis, who is currently the favorite to land backup duties. That said, the two will likely battle for positioning throughout camp and the preseason. Depending on where he lands in the pecking order, Faried could see an uptick in his workload following the change in scenery, though he'll still struggle to be a viable Fantasy asset in the bulk of leagues. Look for his main contribution to be his veteran mentorship to a young guy like Allen.
Faried's window in Denver has been shrinking over recent seasons and it's unclear how much longer he'll stay there. Not only has he seen a decrease in playing time over the last three years, the Nuggets now have their power forward of the future in Paul Millsap. That especially concerning when you consider the fact that Faried averaged a career-low 21.0 minutes per game last season, which should continue to fall during the upcoming campaign. At just 6'8'', Faried is one of the most undersized bigs in the league and it led to an ugly 112.1 defensive rating last season. That's always been an issue for Faried, as he is regularly outmatched by opposing power forwards and centers. His 9.6 points and 7.6 rebounds are still solid numbers in such limited minutes, but the fact that he does it at under 55 percent shooting, while providing less than a block per game makes him a liability as a big. That hurts hist Fantasy stock considerably and it's only going to continue to decrease while stuck in a reserve role behind Millsap.
It was more of the same from Faried in 2015-16, as he averaged 12.5 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game, right on par with his career averages through five NBA seasons. At this point, the undersized power forward is solidified in his role as an energy big man who finishes at a decent rate around the rim, but struggles outside of 10 feet. Faried played just 25.3 minutes per game last season, the second-lowest total of his career, and, on paper at least, he may have trouble topping that figure during the upcoming campaign. The Nuggets will get Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler and Jusuf Nurkic back from injury, while center Nikola Jokic emerged last season as perhaps the team's most promising young asset. Faried still projects to start, but it wouldn't be a surprise if his inability to space the floor ultimately forced coach Mike Malone to go in a different direction. Still, as long as Faried is able to maintain a steady role in the range of 25 minutes per game, he should provide enough as a scorer and rebounder to produce mid-round value in most fantasy leagues.
The man known as the "Manimal" is arguably the biggest star for the Nuggets, and they'll need him to be special if they are to be successful in 2015-16. As an undersized power forward, Faried is one of the most ferocious rebounders in the league, and he's simply a fun player to watch. In his fourth season, Faried averaged 12.6 points, 8.9 rebounds, 0.8 steals, and 0.8 blocks in 28 minutes per game through 75 games. He posted a career-low 51 percent from the field and career-high 69 percent from the line. The book is out on Faried. He's an energy player who thrives on an up-and-down game. New coach Mike Malone may let the offense go free this year, and that could prove to be beneficial for Faried as athletic rookie Emmanuel Mudiay is believed to be an elite passer who should be looking for the big man often. Under ex-coach Brian Shaw, the Nuggets played far too much half-court offense and simply did not play to Faried's strengths. Hopefully, the old offense helped to develop some of his offensive and low-post skills and the new offense will hone his natural skills to make him a better player. Faried is one of the only Nuggets who has a defined role, and it seems likely he'll surpass his 28 minutes per game threshold from last season with the departure of Shaw.
Faried played in 80-of-82 games for the second straight season in 2013-14, while averaging a career-high 13.7 points on 54 percent shooting, 8.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.9 blocks in 27 minutes per game for the Nuggets. What makes Faried intriguing for the 2014-15 season is the fact that, after the All-Star break last season, he averaged 18.8 points on 55 percent shooting, 10.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.1 steals, and 0.7 blocks in 31 mpg. With the expected additions of a healthy Danilo Gallinari returning from a torn ACL and J.J. Hickson (knee) and JaVale McGee (leg) returning from injury, the Nuggets frontcourt is going to be littered with varied options for coach Brian Shaw. Faried should be surrounded by playoff caliber talent and flourish as a reliable rebounder and opportune scorer for fantasy owners this season. While his role as the starting power forward seemed constantly in question last season, the fact that Faried staked his claim to the job last season - and was named the starting power forward for the US national team for the FIBA World Cup - should guarantee him a healthy and consistent role this season.
Faried finished his strong sophomore season with averages of 11.5 points (55 percent from the field, 61 percent from the line), 9.2 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.0 blocks in 28 minutes per game. His numbers improved across the board from his rookie season, and as a rising centerpiece in the Nuggets frontcourt, Faried could build off his strong 2012-13 campaign with another solid season. He has the potential to become a double-double threat every night, making him a viable fantasy option. In addition to that, Faried's ability to grab steals from the power forward position can give owners a competitive advantage. Faried averaged just 28 minutes per game last season under coach George Karl. Now under a new coach and system, if he breaks the 30-minute mark on a consistent basis, Faried could be up for a breakout season. His willingness to get dirty on the boards, as well as making exciting hustle plays on the offensive end, makes him a fan favorite. He will head into his third season at 23 years of age, with much more room for improvement in his bright future.
Faried surprised basketball watchers in 2011-12 when he ended up starting 39 of the 46 games he played. He wasn’t getting off the bench much early in the season, but coach George Karl was won over by Faried’s energy and work on the boards. He averaged 10.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 22.6 minutes per game, numbers that bumped up to 11.7/8.4/1.14 in 25.2 minutes per game after the All-Star break. Faried still has some work left to polish and extend his offensive game, and it’s not out of the question that he picks up a few more shots per game. The Nuggets revamped in the offseason, adding Andre Iguodala, while getting rid of Aaron Afflalo and Al Harrington. There should be some extra shots available for Faried, who should line up as Denver’s starting power forward to start the season.
He's a monster on the boards. It's likely he'll develop into a solid power forward down the road, but the club has a lot of size up front so it's going to be tough for Faried to crack the rotation.

Faried, along with three other veterans, worked out for the Warriors on Tuesday, Shams Charania and Anthony Slater of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Faried hasn't played in the NBA since the 2018-19 season, but for the second straight offseason, he's worked out for an NBA squad. The Warriors have one open roster spot -- two if Andre Iguodala doesn't report -- and are expected to continue working players out leading up to training camp.
