The newly-acquired Lawson averaged 15.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, 9.6 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.1 blocks in 36 minutes per game through 75 games for the Nuggets last season. The six-year veteran shot 44 percent from the field and 24 percent from the three-point line. Following a contentious season that saw Lawson distance himself from the team at the same time that he was dealing with personal issues which led to him getting two DUIs in a six month period, the point guard with the second most assists per game last season (behind only Chris Paul) was traded to the Rockets for a pile of kindling. Patrick Beverley is the incumbent starting point guard on the Rockets, but it's hard to imagine coach Kevin McHale putting an All-Star-caliber player like Lawson on the bench when he's a proven facilitator and scorer. Whatever Lawson gives up on defense to Beverley is generally made up on the offensive end. For fantasy purposes, it's important to acknowledge that Lawson will get a lot fewer touches on the Rockets playing next to James Harden and Dwight Howard, but it also means that he'll have a golf course to play on with all the spacing Howard and Harden are going to give him. Don't sleep on Lawson this season because of the negative press that is often too shallow to understand that personal and professional problems often overlap. He wasn't happy in Denver, and he still dropped it like it was hot last season. Imagine what he can do if he's happy.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Might play in BIG3
Lawson is one of several former NBA players that have been added to the upcoming 2022 BIG3 Draft, according to the league's official website.
ANALYSIS
One would believe Lawson is a veteran with only a few years left on his career, but he's 34 and could still be serviceable in the NBA. He should be a decent fit in the BIG3, though, most notably due to his creativity and above-average athleticism. Lawson last played in the NBA during the 2016-17 season when he logged 69 appearances, including 24 starts, for the Kings.
