Following a six-year run in Spain with Real Madrid, Rodriguez agreed to return to the NBA with the 76ers, signing a one-year, $8 million deal with the club in July. The 30-year-old point guard, a 2006 first-round pick who previously appeared in the NBA for parts of four seasons with the Trail Blazers, Kings and Knicks, is expected to serve in a depth capacity for the 76ers in his latest foray in North America. Though a bit undersized at 6-foot-3 and 168 pounds, Rodriguez posted a 40.9 percent mark from three-point range during Euroleague play last season, a skill the 76ers are hopeful will translate in his return to the NBA. However, with Jerryd Bayless slated to start at point guard and T.J. McConnell likely in line for top backup duties following an impressive rookie season, Rodriguez may have to settle for limited minutes as a third-string option at the position, which would put a damper on his fantasy production.
