Douby played in just 27 games last season as a bench guard for the Raptors, and their improved depth doesn't improve his chances of seeing much court time.
Douby averaged 22.3 ppg during Las Vegas summer league play and could see an increase in minutes this season.
Douby, a 6-3, 175-pound guard was selected with the 19th pick of the first round in the 2006 NBA Draft. He continues a transformation from shooting guard to the point, and it’s possible he’ll end up being Bibby's backup, though Douby’s development was stunted when he missed most of the Kings' summer league games and practices due to a bad back. His shooting range is excellent, as evidenced by his 40.1 three-point percentage in his final year of college. Right now, he’s strictly a gunner lacking the necessary size at shooting guard to be anything other than a garbage-time scorer. Unless Bibby is traded or injured, Douby has little fantasy value.
Douby enters the league as one of the top collegiate scorers, averaging 25.4 points per game at Rutgers while shooting over 40 percent from three-point range. At 6-3, 175 lbs. he may be undersized for the NBA, or he could be another Jameer Nelson type - a top-notch college scorer who surprises people as a professional. His destiny won't be decided this season as a backup to veterans.
