Swift returned to action Tuesday night after missing two games for personal reasons.
ANALYSIS
Swift played just seven minutes off the bench in a game where the Thunder was missing Nick Collison (groin). He'll have little value going forward.

The team still doesn't know what it has in Robert Swift. A first-round draft pick in 2004, Swift has had one injury after another. He missed 2006 with a knee injury and played in only eight games last season. When he did see the court, he offered nothing except fouls, with little physical presence in the paint despite his 7-foot stature. Swift enters camp this season with a broken hand that likely will limit him throughout the preseason. Once healthy, Swift could see decent minutes as the team assesses his future. If he develops as hoped, he could be a brick in the rebuilding effort. If not, his current one-year contract likely will be his last with the franchise.
After missing 2006-07 with a knee injury, Swift enters this year as the presumed starting center. But that's by default more than anything. Johan Petro and Mouhamed Sene proved liabilities on the block last season. Still, Sonics general manager Sam Presti thinks enough of Swift that he was unwilling to include him in the Ray Allen trade with Boston. Swift added 30-40 pounds to his 7-foot frame this offseason and will be looked to for rebounding and defense before any offensive contributions. This is Swift's season to prove he's a legit NBA center.
Last season’s tandem of young centers, Swift and Johan Petro, shared the starting duties after Bob Hill became coach. Petro ended up starting more games than Swift, but both players finished around 20 minutes per game. This position is not settled yet, so we suggest letting RotoWire follow the job battle during the Sonics’ training camp for you. Even when a starter emerges, he’s not likely to be someone you want as a starter on your fantasy team.
Swift spent most of his rookie season on the bench, adapting to NBA life. The bench will be his friend again, though he will see more minutes. Swift is a keeper prospect, but watch his development this year.
Swift is a project and therefore won't see the court too often this season. He has value in keeper leagues as he is an agile big man, but this season he won't do much of anything.
Swift is a quick, athletic, and knows how to score and rebound in the paint. He has great hands and footwork for someone his age, plays aggressively and is a decent passer from the post. Swift is also a good shot blocker. Swift will be a top 20 pick in the draft.
