Bolsinger has agreed to pitch with Chiba Lotte Marines in Japan for the 2018 season, the team's official Twitter account reports.
ANALYSIS
He was outrighted off the Blue Jays' 40-man roster in August, and opted for a steady paycheck in Japan over having to work his way back to the big leagues. The 29-year-old righty has a career 4.92 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 210 strikeouts in 230.2 MLB innings.

2015
Since being drafted by the Diamondbacks in 2010, Bolsinger has bounced around the league. He spent three years in the minors before making his big league debut in 2014. After a rough rookie campaign, Bolsinger was shipped to the Dodgers for cash. He went on to post a 3.62 ERA over 21 starts for Los Angeles in 2015, but the right-hander's progress was derailed by an oblique injury the next year. After giving up 21 runs over 27.2 innings (6.83 ERA) in six starts, the Dodgers sent him to the minors in 2016, then later traded him to Toronto for Jesse Chavez. The 28-year-old Bolsinger was assigned to Triple-A Buffalo where he made six starts and went 1-4 with a 6.04 ERA and 1.58 WHIP. While he remains on the 40-man roster as of press time, Bolsinger seems like a long shot to break camp with a rotation spot.
With the injuries to Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder) and Brandon McCarthy (elbow), Bolsinger wound up seeing far more time on the active roster than the team anticipated when the Dodgers acquired him from the Diamondbacks for cash considerations last November. Bolsinger made 21 starts, notching a respectable 3.62 ERA and a not quite as respectable 1.36 WHIP in 109.1 innings. His 8.1 K/9 was higher than it should be given he averages just 87 mph on his fastball. The lack of top-shelf stuff results in some ugly results when his command and control aren't on, as we saw in September. Bolsinger posted a 7.08 ERA in his final five starts, including 14 walks and eight home runs in just 20.1 innings. With Brett Anderson out three to five months with a bulging disk in his back and Ryu's shoulder issue lingering, Bolsinger could get a handful of starts in the first half as the Dodgers' fifth starter, but he is also dealing with an oblique injury, so he won't be able to join the rotation until late April.
Bolsinger was part of a throng of nondescript mid-20 somethings who gave the Diamondbacks a handful of starts in 2014, as they had just one guy make 30-plus starts and seven make at least 17. Bolsinger showed some decent skills in his 52 innings, but the results were rough as his HR/9, BABIP, and LOB rates were all much worse than league average. Too often that’s immediately written off as bad luck, but this isn't a burgeoning skill set, so Bolsinger deserves some of the blame. His upside is a league-average ERA, but he allows too many hits for that right now, both as a minor and major leaguer. A guy who can take some turns every fifth day has value for a major league team, but that doesn't always translate to the fantasy field, and it seems he may be relegated to long relief in 2015 after a late-November trade saw Bolsinger sent to the Dodgers for cash considerations. It would take a lot of unforeseen changes to give Bolsinger any real measure of fantasy value in even the deepest of formats.
