2025 Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Traditional scouts don't see a very exciting pitching prospect in Hunt, an undrafted righty who broke out in his first full pro season in 2024. However, stat line scouts are drawn to Hunt based on his dominance at Single-A (38.9 K-BB%), High-A (28.3 K-BB%) and Double-A (22.9 K-BB%) last season, despite the fact he was older (turned 24 in July) and only has one above-average offering (his slider). He worked as a reliever during his four years at Mississippi State, so 2024 represented a big jump in workload for Hunt, as he threw 102 innings after throwing no more than 53 innings in any prior season. Hunt mowed down younger hitters thanks to his ability to locate his low-90s fastball with good movement up in the zone, but he hasn't faced many quality hitting prospects yet, and his curveball and changeup are lesser secondary offerings. His fastball has below-average velocity for a righty, so he could get exposed against advanced hitters. Hunt isn't on the 40-man roster, so he'd need to pick up where he left off in 2024 to get a look in the big-league rotation in 2025. He'll likely spend the bulk of the year at Triple-A. Rolling after bump to Double-A
Hunt has a 2.70 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 33:7 K:BB in 26.2 innings over his first five starts for Double-A Biloxi.
ANALYSIS
The 6-foot-3 righty opened the year at Single-A Carolina and was quickly promoted to High-A Wisconsin in mid-May. From there, Hunt's dominance continued, with him posting a 2.15 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 68 strikeouts in 50.1 innings before getting promoted to Double-A on Aug. 6. Hunt is one of the top pop-up pitching prospects in the game, as he signed with Milwaukee in 2023 as an undrafted free agent and was already 23 with no full-season experience coming into the year. His success is largely due to his plus slider and strong command, as Hunt's fastball is a low-90s offering that misses few bats.
