2024 Fantasy Outlook
Westburg was one of a host of top young prospects to see action with the Orioles in 2023, receiving a promotion in late June. His playing time with the American League East champs was sporadic, as he wound up starting 53 of 86 games (62 percent). Westburg did start seven of the final 10 regular-season contests and all three games of the Orioles' ALDS loss to the Rangers, so his playing time was trending up late in the year and he should be in line for regular starts in 2024. The 25-year-old popped 27 homers in the minors in 2022 and 18 in 67 games with Triple-A Norfolk in 2023 before his promotion, but he managed just three long balls in 68 games with Baltimore while dealing with the cavernous left field at Camden Yards. Westburg's average exit velocity (90.2 mph) and hard-hit rate (44.5 percent) were good, and his sprint speed (88th percentile) was better. The plate discipline, though, needs work. Read Past Outlooks
Not starting Saturday
Westburg isn't in the Orioles' lineup for Saturday's game against the Twins, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After going 0-for-5 with an RBI in Friday's contest, Westburg will step aside Saturday while Ramon Urias starts at second base, opening up third for Emmanuel Rivera.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Westburg has average to above-average tools across the board and can play anywhere on the infield. He doesn't have any one tool that will carry his fantasy value, so he needs to be playing every day and compiling stats across the board to be mixed-league viable. Westburg's 31.2 Hard% and propensity to lift and pull allowed him to produce a .261/.353/.491 slash line with 27 home runs in 138 games across Double-A and Triple-A. He has above-average speed and stole 12 bases on 15 attempts. His 21.8 K% at Triple-A was his best mark as a pro. It's unclear when Westburg will be given a shot as an everyday player, but the Orioles are very high on him and probably feel vindicated for taking him 30th overall in 2020. Jorge Mateo, Ramon Urias, Connor Norby and Joey Ortiz also linger as middle infielders capable of playing every day for Baltimore in 2023, and there is only room for two or three of these five.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
New stance paying off
Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports that Westburg made adjustments to his batting stance during the offseason and has delivered strong results early in 2024 with a .305/.359/.537 slash line through 27 games.
ANALYSIS
The 25-year-old eliminated most of his pre-pitch bat movement and also has less of a crouch, and he named teammate Gunnar Henderson's stance as inspiration for the new approach. Westburg has split his playing time between second and third base this season, but he's currently seeing most of his time at the keystone after top prospect Jackson Holliday was sent back to Triple-A.
