2024 Fantasy Outlook
Hancock was the sixth pick of the 2020 MLB Draft, and the product of Georgia hasn't shown much consistency in his time as a professional. He was able to reach the majors in 2023, however, and he appeared to have a spot in the Seattle rotation for the remainder of the season until he was diagnosed with a Grade 1-plus shoulder strain in August after making three starts with Seattle. The 24-year-old doesn't have an overpowering fastball, but he commands it well enough to get ahead in counts, and his slider has a chance to be an out-pitch at the highest level. Hancock is not a future ace and he doesn't seem likely to be a part of the Seattle rotation to open the year, but he's a name that's worth keeping an eye on if he does get the chance or he changes organization. Control issues in spot start
Hancock did not factor into the decision in Saturday's extra-inning win over the Athletics, allowing three earned runs on five hits and four walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out three.
ANALYSIS
Hancock tossed only 56 of 93 pitches for strikes and generated a modest eight whiffs. He allowed a solo home run to Tyler Soderstrom to lead off the sixth inning before exiting a batter later, making it his longest outing at the big-league level since June 13. The right-hander shuttled between Seattle and Triple-A Tacoma this season, and he finished with a 4-4 mark, 4.75 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 39:19 K:BB across 60.2 big-league innings over 12 starts. Hancock posted better overall numbers in 16 starts with the Rainiers (6-3, 3.26 ERA, 1.27 WHIP), and he could get a chance to try and crack the major-league rotation again in spring training, although the M's aren't lacking for pitching depth.

2021 Fantasy Outlook
After his sophomore season, Hancock was one of the top candidates to go first overall in the 2020 draft. However, he wasn't quite the same after a lat injury in late 2019, allowing Max Meyer and Asa Lacy to pass him as the top pitchers on most boards. He had a 1.99 ERA and 0.84 WHIP in 90.1 innings as a sophomore and a 3.75 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in 24 innings as a junior. The 6-foot-4, 213-pound righty's changeup and command/control were among the best in the class. His mid-90s fastball is hittable in the zone because it can be pretty straight, somewhat reminiscent of Pirates righty Mitch Keller. Spotting that pitch in all four quadrants will be paramount to him reaching his ceiling as a No. 2 starter. An above-average slider and average curveball round out his four-pitch mix. He dealt with minor arm tenderness and was limited to a few live batting practice sessions at the alternate site and fall instructs.
