2024 Fantasy Outlook
A former seventh-round pick out of Missouri State, Millas had a breakout season between Double-A Harrisburg and Triple-A Rochester in 2023, slashing .291/.390/.442 with seven home runs and six stolen bases over 83 games. It led to his first cup of coffee in the majors and he more than held his own in reaching base 12 times in 33 plate appearances while homering once. Millas' hard-hit rate both in the majors (20.8 percent) and minors (20.7 percent) was exceedingly weak, so it's unlikely he'll ever contribute more than a handful of homers at the major-league level. The 26-year-old is a good athlete for a catcher and could chip in with a handful of steals, but ultimately he profiles as a defense-first backup. Millas enters 2024 behind Keibert Ruiz and Riley Adams on the Nationals' catching depth chart. Read Past Outlooks
Summoned from Triple-A
The Nationals recalled Millas from Triple-A Rochester on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Millas will take the spot on the Nationals' 26-man roster that was vacated by outfielder Alex Call, who was placed on the 10-day injured list due to a partial tear of the plantar fascia in his left foot. It's the fourth time Millas has been called up to the majors this season, and across his 11 games with Washington, he's gone 5-for-30 with two runs scored, two stolen bases and a solo home run. He'll serve as catching depth behind Keibert Ruiz and Riley Adams and is unlikely to see extensive playing time.
