2025 Projections
Cut loose by Toronto
The Blue Jays released Revere from his minor-league contract over the weekend, Kegan Lowe of Baseball America reports.
ANALYSIS
Revere joined the organization in late April and reported to Triple-A Buffalo, where he played in eight games and hit .286 with one stolen base. The outfielder wasn't likely to earn a callup to Toronto anytime soon and may have asked for his release to pursue opportunities elsewhere. Revere hasn't surfaced in the big leagues since 2017, when he appeared in 109 games for the Angels and slashed .275/.308/.344 across 308 plate appearances.

Revere hoped to rebound in 2018 after a couple of middling seasons. Things didn't go as planned. He initially inked a minor-league contract with the Reds, but he was released after failing to crack the Opening Day roster. The Angels took a flier on him shortly thereafter, but he only wound up playing in 40 games over the first four months of the season, all at the Triple-A level, due to a broken foot. He hit a modest .277/.319/.406 with the Salt Lake Bees, adding a mere two stolen bases, and the Angels saw enough to release him at the end of July. At 30 years old, Revere's speed and defense are in decline and so too is his real-life utility. We may have seen the last of Revere at the big-league level.
