2020 Fantasy Outlook
Garcia was considered a relatively interesting relief prospect heading into 2019, to the extent that such things exist, though he didn't do much to back that up in his debut season. To be fair to the young righty, he was just 22 years old, but nothing about his 5.77 ERA or 6.57 FIP in 39 innings gives much reason to be excited about his future. His 26.2% strikeout rate was solidly above average, but his 15.1% walk rate and 2.54 HR/9 were both far too high. A 21.6% HR/FB rate suggests he was fairly unlucky, but he also failed to keep the ball on the ground, generating a low 32.0% groundball rate. Garcia's fastball and slider (which he threw 46.5% of the time) each received good grades from scouts, but he didn't do anything in his debut to disprove worries about his control. He'll have to cut his walk rate significantly if he's to push for a high-leverage role in the future.
