Reassigned to minor-league camp
Freitas was reassigned to minor-league camp by the Dodgers on Wednesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Freitas slashed .239/.310/.345 last season with the Yankees' Triple-A affiliate before being released in early July. He's made the most of his spring training opportunities, posting a .967 OPS in 18 plate appearances, but he's not much more than an organizational depth piece behind major-leaguers Will Smith and Austin Barnes.

2019 Fantasy Outlook
Freitas got his first extended run in the majors last season as a 29-year-old, with his sixth professional organization. He got into 36 games, posting a .215/.277/.312 line that very much fits the profile of a journeyman third or fourth catcher. He lines up as the second catcher heading into the season for a Seattle team that lacks any real depth at the position. He did manage a very impressive .349/.428/.527 line with Triple-A Tacoma, though that came in a small, 39-game sample and required an unsustainable .409 BABIP, so there's little reason to believe his offensive profile has dramatically improved. Even if he does earn unexpected playing time this season, a difficult home park and weakened lineup will serve to dampen his numbers.
