The Rangers released Jungmann on Monday, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
ANALYSIS
Following a two-year stay in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball, Jungmann returned stateside in 2020 after signing a minor-league deal with the Rangers in February. The right-hander was expected to provide rotation depth at Triple-A Nashville, but he'll instead move on from the Rangers organization without having ever pitched in a regular-season game for any affiliate.

Jungmann appeared in just one game for the Brewers in 2017, but he turned things around after a dreadful 2016 campaign, posting a 3.06 ERA over 26 minor-league outings. Like the year before he split his team between Double-A and Triple-A, and showed significant improvement in his secondary stats at the Triple-A ranks, posting a 3.90 K:BB and 0.40 HR/9 over 90.1 innings with Colorado Springs after putting up 0.69 and 1.74 marks, respectively, the year before. Jungmann has good size on the mound and is a former first-rounder, but he is not a hard thrower and turned 28 during the offseason, so he is no longer much of a prospect. He will head to Japan for the 2018 campaign in an effort to improve his stock overseas.
