Tarnok was one of the top prospects acquired by Oakland in the three-way deal that shipped Sean Murphy to Atlanta, but the right-hander dealt with injuries throughout the 2023 campaign and he was shut down in August after undergoing season-ending hip surgery; a surgery that will see the right-hander slowed to begin the 2024 season, as well. When healthy, the 25-year-old right-hander has three pitches that have shown the potential to miss bats in his fastball, slider and change, but he doesn't always have great command of those offerings, and consistency has been an issue since he was drafted by Atlanta back in 2017. There's potential for long-term success for Tarnok, but he should be firmly off radars to begin 2024, even if he's able to earn a spot in the Oakland rotation in the early portion of the year.
