Closer Watch

Yankees:Mariano Rivera threw a scoreless ninth inning on Monday against the inning allowing one hit and recording one strikeout to reach 20 saves on the season, the league lead in the American League. He has an astounding 1.69 ERA and has only allowed two walks all year. He should find himself back in the All-Star game this season in New York and remains one of the top closers in the game despite coming off a significant knee injury last season.

Mariners: Closer Tom Wilhelmsen surrendered one run on a walk and a hit on Monday against the White Sox but held on to earn his 13th save of the season. He attacked hitters with first-pitch strikes to all five batters he faced but allowed a RBI single to Adam Dunn to bring the game within two before closing the door. He has totaled a 2.13 ERA this season in 24 games and also has a 0.908 WHIP. His job as the Mariners' closer is relatively safe for the foreseeable future.

Recommended Pickup

Jonathan Lucroy, C, MIL - Lucroy had been scuffling for much of the start of the season hitting .229 through May 30. Then on May 31 against the Phillies he busted out in a big way going 5-for-5 with two home runs and four RBI falling a triple short of the cycle. He then followed that up with two more solid performances in the series. Coming off a season in 2012 in which he hit .320/.368/.513 with 12 home runs in only 96 games, it would be surprising if his batting average fell off so much. His strong defensive skills keep him in the lineup most nights and he plays a position that in fantasy circles can struggle offensively. At age 26 he is still likely just growing into his power and he seems poised for a strong summer after struggling in April and May.

Other Recent Recommendations: Yasiel Puig, Ubaldo Jimenez, Tyler Lyons, Julio Teheran, and Michael Wacha
