Closer Watch
Athletics -- The last time before Friday that Balfour took the mound he was disastrous having to be pulled from the ninth without having recorded an out because he gave up two runs. Thankfully the Athletics had a three run lead, and Jerry Blevins was ready to step in and get his first save of 2012 on only eight pitches. Friday was a different story as Balfour put the Orioles away in a 3-2 win, while facing the minimum number of batters. Balfour is the man in Oakland, but it does seem that they do have some other capable pitchers in the bullpen ready to take his role as closer.

Recommended Pickup

Other Recent Recommendations:
Chris Nelson, 2B/3B, COL -- It has been a while since Nelson was drafted out of high school as the ninth overall selection in the 2004 draft, but it hasn't been until recently that he has shown flashes as to why he was drafted so high. In a six-game hitting streak from September 9 to September 14 Nelson had two homers, five runs scored, and seven RBIs, wile raising his batting average over 20 points to .285. When it comes to Nelson's splits thus far this season he has hits righties and lefties just about the same with an OPS right around .800 against both, but just like most players that play for the Rockies, he seems to struggle when he is not at Coors Field. Anyone considering picking up Nelson, who has been the Rockies regular third-baseman as of late, should probably only play him at home because he has a batting average of .333 in the thin air of Colorado, which happens to be exactly 100 points higher compared to his .233 road batting average.

Other Recent Recommendations: Jed Lowrie, Logan Forsythe, Andy Pettitte, Donovan Solano, and Andrelton Simmons
