Closer Watch

San Francisco Giants – Although manager Bruce Bochy has said Santiago Casilla and Sergio Romo would split ninth-inning duties, it is Casilla who has seen high-leverage situations in September. Unfortunately for owners who have bought into the Giants' saves equation, those situations have been few and far between. In the last 11 days, Casilla has managed just two appearances – one of which he converted for his 15th save of the season. Neither Giants' reliever has had the most impressive season, but as a contender, the team provides the potential for invaluable save opportunities down the stretch.

Gregor Blanco, OF, SF – In the midst of a singing September, the Giants find themselves just two games back of the Dodgers for the lead in the NL West. The fact San Francisco has won seven of its last 10 games is thanks in no small part to the team's unsung hero. In the last 30 days, Blanco is hitting .377 and getting on base at a .469 clip. If getting on base was his only contribution, Blanco's value to the team would be astronomical. As one who also brings a trio of home runs and stolen bases since mid-August, his dividends are at an all-time high. There seems to be no reason his fantasy contributions to contending teams should be any less noticeable. Grab him while he remains hot and try to parlay the numbers into a championship.
