Closer Watch
Rockies:Rafael Betancourt left the game Thursday after suffering a second straight blown save with an elbow injury. It was immediately concerning to the Rockies and it is feared he suffered a torn ligament in his throwing elbow. He is scheduled for an MRI on Monday when the team returns to Denver. As with the previous two trips to the DL this year for Betancourt, Rex Brothers will take back the closing duties. Brothers has been one of the top relievers this season in all of baseball with a 1.51 ERA and 11 saves in 12 opportunities. A left-hander, Brothers has traditional closing pitches with a solid fastball, hard slider, and an occasional changeup.

Recommended Pickup
Jarrod Parker, SP, OAK - Parker is the latest product of the pitching factory that is the Oakland minor league system. He was acquired from the Diamondbacks at the end of 2011 and had a slow start to the 2013 season. Since the All-Star break, he has posted a 3-0 record, 3.05 ERA, and 33 strikeouts with 14 walks over 41.1 innings pitched. His most recent start against the Mariners was his first complete game and he only needed exactly 100 pitches to complete the victory. Oakland sits in the middle of the playoff race again and they will rely on Parker and the rest of the pitching staff to bring them back to October.
Other Recent Recommendations: Donnie Murphy, Jedd Gyorko, Khris Davis, Dillon Gee, and Brandon Belt
