Welcome back to another edition of my FanDuel value plays of the day for Wednesday. Today's contests include 12 games which should make for an exciting night. Be sure to check up on any last minute lineup changes and any players that have been battling injuries before you make out your lineups. Let's take a look at some guys who should provide good value for their current price tag.
Starting Pitcher:
Gerrit Cole, $9,200 - Cole is among the most expensive, but it's tough to get away from this guy when he's going to be on the mound. Cole is 4-0 on the year with a 1.76 ERA and a 35/8 K/BB ratio over 30.2 innings pitched. Entering the 2015 season, many believed the 25 year old right-hander would have a shot to win the NL Cy Young award, and he's certainly off to a good start. On Wednesday, he'll pitch at home against a Reds team that is notorious for striking out a ton, and currently holds a team batting average of .226. Another solid option if you'd like to go a bit cheaper would be Ubaldo Jimenez ($6,900), who's also off to a great start, and has really looked like the guy we saw win a Cy Young just a few years back.
Catcher:
Salvador Perez, $2,700 - Perez has a very reasonable price tag considering the numbers he's put up so far this season. He's batting .313 with three home runs and 15 RBI, which is solid production at the catcher position. The Royals get Carlos Carrasco and the Indians at home one Wednesday. Carrasco started off the year strong, but he's been banged up in each of his last two starts. Perez is better than his price tag suggests. We also like Carlos Perez at $3,000.
First Base:
Adam Lind, $3,100 - The Milwaukee Brewers have struggled badly up to this point, but one of the few bright spots has been off season acquisition Adam Lind. Lind is slashing .315/.392/.551 with four home runs and 13 RBI. The Brewers play at hitter friendly Miller Park on Wednesday against Joe Wieland and the Dodgers. Wieland is a young right-hander with very limited Major League experience. The Brewers are starting to get healthy around Lind, so the opportunities to produce should keep coming. Freddie Freeman is also a solid option at $3,400.
Second Base:
Dustin Pedroia, $2,900 - Pedroia is off to another solid start in 2015 which is nothing new for the former MVP. After a wrist injury slowed him down much of last season, he finally looks to be healthy and back to his usual form. Pedroia is hitting .279 with five home runs and 11 RBI. The Red Sox will get youngster Alex Colome of the Rays on Wednesday who's making just the eighth start of his career. Pedroia can provide great value at $2,900. Ian Kinsler ($3,400) is also a solid option on Wednesday.
Third Base:
Adrian Beltre, $2,800 - Beltre isn't off to the best of starts so far, entering Wednesday's game with a .219 average over 105 at-bats. His power numbers are also down (2 HR, 5 RBI) which is why his price tag is so low at this point. Beltre is a professional hitter who's been very consistent over the course of his career, and there's no doubt that he'll bust out of the slump eventually. Beltre should have a good matchup on Wednesday against Samuel Deduno of the Astros who's career ERA is 4.14 up to this point. A veteran hitter like Beltre won't find a better opportunity to bust out of a slump then the one he'll have today. The very short porch in Houston never hurts either. Kris Bryant at $3,200 is also a solid play.
Shortstop:
Marcus Semien, $2,900 - Anytime you can get a solid five tool player at such a low cost, it can lead to very good value. Over 110 at-bats, Semien has scored 15 runs, hit three long balls, drove in 12 runs, and stole four bases. Semien will have a juicy matchup against young right-hander Trevor May of the Twins on Wednesday who enters this contest with a career ERA of 6.82. Another solid option on Wednesday is Andrelton Simmons at $2,600.
Outfield:
Josh Reddick, $4,100 - This is a larger price tag, but if you have the money available, take Josh Reddick because he's been on an absolute tear as of late. Over his last seven games Reddick is hitting .385 with eight runs scored, two long balls, and nine RBI. He's driven in 20 runs on the young season, even after starting the season on the DL. He's only had 76 at-bats up to this point and he's still among the league leaders in numerous categories. The A's get Kyle Gibson of the Twins on Wednesday who's career ERA is 4.76.
Ryan Braun, $3,500 - Ryan Braun got off to a brutal start to begin the season, but in the last week or so he's bounced back very nicely. Braun has four home runs and 8 RBI in his last seven games, and he's playing at home on Wednesday against the Dodgers. He'll have a juicy matchup against youngster Joe Wieland.
Yoenis Cespedes, $3,200 - Cespedes seems to be very comfortable in a Tigers uniform and he's gotten off to a solid start in 2015. He's slashing .301/.324/.534 with four home runs and 17 RBI. The Tigers are 17-10 to start the year, and Cespedes is a big reason why. They'll get a matchup with left-hander and White Sox ace Chris Sale on Wednesday who's struggled to begin the season. There is no doubt that Sale will return to form, but his recent numbers don't suggest that it will happen overnight. (5.32 ERA/1.45 WHIP in four starts).
