Pitcher
Ivan Nova, PIT at PHI ($7,300): There are a few intriguing value options at pitcher Tuesday, including CC Sabathia ($7,100) against a Dodgers squad that can't hit southpaws and hard-throwing rookie Jharel Cotton ($5,500) versus a Royals team that has often found offense hard to come by this season. However, I like Nova and his matchup against a Phillies lineup that's ranked next-to-last in the majors against right-handed pitching (.296 wOBA) while also striking out at a 22.6 percent strikeout rate. They've been par for the course over the last seven days as well, with a .298 wOBA and the highest strikeout rate in the majors during that period (28.9 percent). Nova has also been outstanding over his last four starts, with two complete games and just five earned runs surrendered over 30 innings covering that span, along with between 30 and 54 fantasy points.
Catcher
Victor Martinez, DET vs. MIN ($3,400): The switch-hitting Martinez is the one potent bat in the Tigers lineup poised to take advantage of Twins starter Kyle Gibson's considerable struggles against left-handed hitters, which only get worse away from Target Field. Gibson's wOBA against left-handers stands at .391, with the figure rising to .417 when facing them on the road, along with a 5.89 xFIP and a 19.2 HR/FB rate. Martinez has 18 of his 24 homers on the season against right-handed pitching, along with a .354 wOBA and a 42.1 percent hard contact rate when facing that handedness at Comerica Park.
First Base
Mitch Moreland, TEX at HOU ($3,000): Astros starter Brad Peacock has struggled against lefty bats throughout his five-plus major league seasons, with 2016 being no exception. He's surrendered a .394 wOBA to left-handed hitters over a small sample this season, a figure supported by the .361 number he's yielded to that handedness during his career. He's also yielded a 5.58 xFIP and a 1.80 HR/9 to that handedness, while Moreland has smacked 17 of his 22 homers on the season against right-handed pitching along with a .324 wOBA and .209 ISO. While his recent struggles make him strictly a tournament play, his home run upside offers the potential for a nice return.
Second Base
Jace Peterson, ATL vs. MIA ($2,300): Peterson owns a .354 wOBA against right-handed pitching at Turner Field, and has also hit all seven of his homers on the season against righty arms. Marlins rookie starter Jake Esch has been more vulnerable to right-handed hitters to date, but has given up a .337 wOBA to lefty bats over a limited sample as well. Peterson has also hit safely in four of his last five games, including a three-hit effort Monday that generated 15.2 fantasy points, an excellent return on a near-minimum price that has lingered into Tuesday.
Third Base
Kyle Seager SEA at LAA ($3,400): Seager came up empty last night against Ricky Nolasco, but I'm going right back to the well with him against the inexperienced Alex Meyer, who's given up a .572 wOBA, 6.17 xFIP and a 33.3 percent hard contact rate to left-handed hitters over a limited sample this season. Seager checks in with a .396 wOBA, .240 ISO and 40.1 percent hard contact rate against right-handed pitching, along with 17 homers, 11 of which have come on the road.
Shortstop
Brad Miller, TAM at TOR ($3,000): Miller has homers in back-to-back games and has a career-high 28 on the season overall, making him a high upside tournament play, particularly in a hitter's park like Rogers Centre. Miller has 25 of those 28 round-trippers against right-handed pitching, along with a .345 wOBA, .265 ISO, 36.1 percent hard contact rate and 22.9 percent HR/FB rate. Marcus Stroman has given up a .317 wOBA to righty bats at home, along with a 30.7 percent hard contact rate.
Outfield
Nomar Mazara, TEX at HOU ($3,200): Mazara is another left-handed value bat to trot out against Peacock, whose troubles against left-handed hitters were detailed earlier. Mazara has 16 of his 17 homers on the season against right-handed pitching, along with a .339 wOBA that rises to .358 when facing that handedness on the road. He also boasts an impressive 24 percent HR/FB rate against righties away from Globe Life Park, which should play well against the 47.4 percent fly ball rate that Peacock has surrendered so far to left-handed hitters.
Yasmany Tomas, ARI vs. COL ($2,600): Tomas is coming off a monster 51-fantasy point performance Monday and now draws a matchup that could be ripe for another nice return. Rockies starter Jorge De La Rosa has given up a .351 wOBA and 15 homers on the season to right-handed hitters, along with a .360 wOBA outside of Chase Field. Righty bats have also made hard contact at a 36.4 percent clip against him on the road, while Tomas owns an absurd .454 wOBA, .336 ISO, 184 wRC+, 44.7 percent hard contact rate and massive 47.6 percent HR/FB rate against southpaws.
Angel Pagan, SFG vs. SDP ($3,300): The switch-hitting Pagan is a cost-effective right-handed bat to deploy against Padres starter Clayton Richard, who's yielded a .402 wOBA and 5.75 xFIP to that handedness on the road. Pagan has a .351 wOBA at home against lefties, along with double-digit fantasy points in three of his last four games.
