We have a full slate on Thursday, so there are is a wealth of options out there. In addition, five of them are day games, so make sure to check the early lineups to ensure that you don't waste money on players who won't be on the field. Here are our daily value plays for Thursday, June 11.
Pitcher:
Jaime Garcia, $7,600: Garcia has been outstanding since returning from the D.L. a little under a month ago. The lefty is sporting a stellar 2.06 ERA and 0.89 WHIP on the season to go along with a terrific 24:5 K:BB. Garcia has been especially good lately allowing only four runs over his last 22.0 innings pitched, and gets to face a Twins squad that has a paltry .610 OPS in the month of June. Add in that Garcia is pitching in Minnesota, a pitcher's park, and he is an excellent play, made even better by the fact that there are 11 pitchers on the board who cost more than he does. However, if you want an even cheaper option, Mat Latos ($6,300) is coming off his best outing of the season and can be had at an insanely low price. Latos saw a significant uptick in velocity in his last start, which may portend good things moving forward.
Catcher:
Yasmani Grandal, $3,000: Grandal has been great since coming to the Dodgers this past offseason and finally seems to be living up to the potential many believe he had. The switch-hitting backstop has a strong .277/.386/.477 slash line on the season and has been hitting extremely well of late, with three home runs over the last week. In accruing these numbers, Grandal has terrorized right-handed pitching to the tune of a .919 OPS and faces inexperienced righty Anthony Ranaudo who is making his second start of the season. Ranaudo's first start came in April and he yielded six runs in 1.2 innings pitched. Between the matchup and the solid price point Grandal is an exceptional play.
First Base:
Ben Paulsen, $3,100: Paulsen has gone from relative unknown to valuable fantasy asset over the first two months of the 2015 season. The lefty slugger is sporting an impressive .293/.348/.573 slash line this season and has been even better in Colorado with a 1.022 OPS at home. Not only is Paulsen playing in Coors Field, but he faces righty Colin McHugh who has really struggled this season on the way to an ugly 5.08 ERA. Add in that Paulsen has killed right-handed pitching this season - .940 OPS vs. righties - and he makes for a great play at a relatively inexpensive price, especially compared to the other options at first base.
Second Base:
Kolten Wong, $3,000: Wong has been one of the best offensive second baseman in the league and yet is still priced in the middle tier at the position, with 11 second baseman who cost more than him. Wong has been especially good against right-handed pitching sporting a stellar .852 OPS against righties - 174 points higher than against lefties - and faces an uninspiring right-hander in Mike Pelfrey. Pelfrey is coming off his worst outing of the season - eight earned runs in 3.2 innings of work - and seems ripe for the picking. Between the price and matchup Wong is a great play at second base.
Third Base:
Mike Moustakas, $2,800: Moustakas is having the best season of his career. The left-handed slugger has refined his game, especially with regards to hitting to the opposite field, which has led to an impressive .323 average. He has been even better over the last week - .412 average with a home run - and faces struggling righty Jimmy Nelson. Nelson has been awful against left-handed hitters - .903 OPS against - making the mathcup even better for Moustakas. Add in a surprisingly low price point - 23 third baseman priced higher - and the Kansas City third baseman is a strong play today.
Shortstop:
Jung-Ho Kang, $2,900: Kang has been a nice find for fantasy owners this season, as the Korean import has put up solid numbers and is finally getting the chance to play on a consistent basis. Kang has been especially good lately with a .389 average and home run over the last week. Kang faces Jeff Samardzija who hasn't been able to find much success in 2015. Add in a matchup in the homer-friendly confines of US Cellular Field, and Kang presents a nice play for a decent price point.
Outfield:
J.D. Martinez, $3,300: Martinez has been white hot lately, sporting a stellar .400 average over the last week to go along with three long balls. Yet, for some reason Martinez's price point is still eminently affordable at $3,300. In addition, Martinez faces a very hittable pitcher in right-hander Mike Leake. Martinez, despite being a right-handed hitter, has been far better against righties than lefties this season - OPS difference of 247 points - making the Tiger outfielder an outstanding play, especially for the price.
Ben Revere, $2,800: Revere seems to be finding his stroke with a .327 average in the month of June. More important, the speedster has been running more of late with four steals over his last four games. With stolen bases counting for two points apiece in FanDuel scoring, Revere offers a lot of upside for an extremely low price point. Add in a matchup with atrocious right-hander Bud Norris - 8.29 ERA and 1.71 WHIP on the season - and Revere looks like a strong play, especially when considering that the Phillie outfielder has an OPS that is 174 points higher vs. righties than lefties.
Kyle Schwarber, $2,200: Schwarber is the lowest-priced outfielder on the board, which seems insane given the lefty slugger's gaudy 1.017 OPS in AA this season. In addition, Schwarber did not disappoint in his first MLB start going 4-for-5 with three RBI and two runs. The youngster will be playing at DH, which will allow him to focus all his efforts and talents on hitting, which should yield positive results. For the extremely low price, Schwarber is, perhaps, the best bag-for-your-buck play on the board.
