Cut loose by Twins
Paulsen was released by the Twins on Monday, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Paulsen batted just .230 with a 20.3 percent strikeout rate in 74 at-bats with Triple-A Rochester, so the Twins decided to cut ties with him in order to make room for the higher-upside prospects in their system. Despite being kicked out of the organization, the 29-year-old does have a decent bit of MLB service time to his name, so he could find a new job fairly soon with an organization needing depth in the corner outfield or at first base.

Danny Valencia's defense has cost him some playing time of late, but RotoWire's Kevin Payne says he's absolutely worth a play Monday against the Astros if he can get the start at DH or first base.
While many fantasy players will be focusing on Coors Field, RotoWire's Kevin Payne explains why a former Rockie may be a solid pick Monday on FanDuel.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2016
2015
Paulsen took advantage of an injury to Justin Morneau and hit .277/.326/.462 in 116 plate appearances, a heavily Coors-inflated batting line. Paulsen’s .847 OPS at Coors Field was 129 points better than his mark on the road, and he struck out in an absurd 31.1 percent of plate appearances away from home. The 28-year-old Paulsen has had the look of a quad-A player throughout his minor league career; he's hit as many as 20 home runs in the minor leagues, but lacks the bat to stick at first and the glove to stick in a corner-outfield spot in the majors. Still, he can rack up some fantasy-worthy numbers while playing in Coors Field. Even if plenty of minor leaguers could do the same job, Paulsen’s the one with the opportunity.
