Fabregas will hang up his boots at the age of 36 after playing 20 years of professional football, he announced on Twitter.
ANALYSIS
Fabregas started his professional career with Arsenal, spending nine seasons in London while scoring 35 goals in 212 appearances. During his time there he won the FA Cup, the Community Shield, and was Champions League runner up. He then made a move to Barcelona during the prime of his career and was part of one of the greatest midfields in the club's history, scoring 28 goals in 96 appearances. This is where he won one La Liga title, one Copa de Rey title, two Super Copa de Espana titles and a Club World Cup. Fabregas then made a controversial move to Chelsea, Arsenal's biggest rival in England, for six seasons while scoring 15 goals in 138 appearances. He made Arsenal fans angry when he won the league title twice while also winning the FA Cup. Since he left Cheslea, his career began to decline, spending four seasons in Monaco while failing to produce much until he ended his career playing for Serie B side Como. The midfielder was also part of the golden generation of Spanish football, winning the World Cup for Spain in 2010 and back-to-back European Cups. He made a total of 110 appearances with the national team while scoring 15 goals.
