Women's World Cup: Tuesday DFS Breakdown

This article is part of our Daily Fantasy Soccer Cheat Sheet series.

The pricing for DraftKings' classic slate Tuesday isn't nearly as top-heavy as it was Monday, with Italy's Cristiana Girelli the most expensive player at $8,800. She is also the highest priced on FanDuel, though at $22 she's pretty much in line with the top prices we've seen on most slates. Girelli comes in with three goals on six shots (four on target) in her three starts, but all of her goals and all but two of her off-target shots came in the 5-0 win over Jamaica, who left France with zero points and a minus-11 goal differential, the second-worst in the tournament (trailing only Thailand's minus-19). Italy won Group C with six points thanks to the best goal differential of plus-5, and they come in as +110 favorites on FanDuel Sportsbook over China (+290), who finished third in Group B behind Germany and Spain. Their favored status helps Girelli top the anytime goal scorer odds list for the match at +190, followed by Barbara Bonansea, who scored a brace in Italy's opener against Australia but has gone empty on her five shots since then, putting three on goal and winning four fouls. Bonansea is the second-most expensive player on DraftKings and tied for the second-most on FanDuel, so if you want exposure to the Italy attack, you're going to have to pay up. However, it may not even be worth it, as China lost to Germany 1-0 before beating South Africa 1-0 and then finishing the Spain match in

However, it may not even be worth it, as China lost to Germany 1-0 before beating South Africa 1-0 and then finishing the Spain match in a scoreless draw. Needless to say, their defense has been solid. Neither match on the slate is expected to be high scoring, but the Italy v. China match is +112 to go over 2.5 goals versus -136 for the under. So, if you're looking for reliable Italian points, Valentina Cernoia is the likely place to go because of her role on set pieces, helping her to 6.50 floor points in each of their three group stage matches. She doesn't have a full monopoly, as Manuela Giugliano has also taken corners, but Giugliano is actually more expensive on DraftKings thanks to her three assists against Jamaica, the match that was also responsible for four of her five chances created in the tournament, not not mention five of her seven crosses. She seems like an even easier fade on FanDuel at $18, where Cernoia is $2 cheaper.

China doesn't offer a lot of solid floor alternatives, and their underdog status certainly doesn't make fantasy players jump at rostering any of their attackers. We get another chance to be disappointed by Wang Shuang, and at $5,400 on DraftKings there don't seem to be many reasons to take her over Gu Yasha at $4,700. Neither has shown much upside, though when you score only one goal in the group stage, it's tough to be confident in any kind of upside, even if Li Ying is the one who scored their lone goal and $6,300/$16 isn't that bad. The positive for Gu is that she at least is able to fill a forward spot if you don't want to go heavy on the Netherlands.

Then again, why not go heavy on the Netherlands given their -120 odds to win? The +112 odds for the match to have more than 2.5 goals may be one reason, but they at least represent a better chance than the Italy v. China game. Vivianne Miedema unsurprisingly has the best anytime goal scorer odds on the slate at +105, as she has two goals on 11 shots (four on target) and four chances created in three starts. That being said, her two goals plus four shots, including three on goal, and half of her chances created came in the 3-1 win over Cameroon. Fantasy players had been drawn to Lieke Martens, but she's been pretty poor since the opening match against New Zealand, and rostering either player for their floors is a risky proposition. Then again, they fill forward spots on a slate that really doesn't have many safe options. Shanice van de Sanden has at least shown an ability to take shots and send in crosses, but she's still finished with fewer than four fantasy points on DraftKings in two of three games. If you're looking for set pieces, Sherida Spitse has taken nearly all of their corners, which sounds great until you see that the Netherlands surprisingly failed to win a single corner in their last two group stage matches despite 61 percent possession against Cameroon and 49 percent against Canada. Spitse doesn't have much upside despite taking three shots in the first two games, though her +260 odds to score really aren't that bad (Martens' are +190).

Japan's floor players are a bit more interesting, except for the fact they're +340 underdogs. Forward Yuika Sugasawa was excellent off the bench in their loss to England, putting two of five shots on goal in just 29 minutes, and she scored a goal in the prior match against Scotland. At $7,900, that shot volume is pretty solid, though her +310 odds to score don't impress. Then again, they're not far behind Kumi Yokoyama's +300, the best odds among the Japan attackers. For those looking for floor, Emi Nakajima should get the attention, as she's scored at least 6.00 fantasy points on DraftKings in all three group stage games thanks to her role on set pieces. She's not cheap at $7,400, but you have to pay for the reliability she brings. Plus, as mentioned earlier, there aren't any really expensive players we need to save salary for at any position, and that includes Risa Shimizu, who scored 10.75 floor points on DraftKings in their opening match but has gone for 6.00 total in the two subsequent games. The defender pool for Tuesday's slate is pretty weak to the point where you can pay up if you have the salary cap space, but there's really no player at the position worth prioritizing.
