Fantrax Finds: Waiver Wire Pickups For Gameweek 10

This article is part of our Fantrax Waiver Wire series.

Ahead of each Premier League gameweek, I'll take a look at sub-50 percent rostered players on Fantrax whose situations may have changed or improved, and assess whether or not they are worth a pickup in season-long leagues.

GOALKEEPER

Neto (33-percent rostered): Neto gets the nod just ahead of James Trafford (13 percent) as their teams face off against each other at the weekend. Both are good streaming choices, as both Burnley and Bournemouth are the two lowest scoring teams in the league. With Bournemouth being the home side I lean Neto, but I'd be happy to pick either keeper this week given both team's struggles in the early season.

DEFENDERS

Kostas Tsimikas (64 percent): I'm cheating a bit here roster percentage wise, but Tsimikas was added in 61 percent of leagues after last week's article came out due to the injury to Andrew Robertson. Tsimikas needs to be added where still available since he'll get an extended run in Liverpool's starting XI. While the attack usually flows through Trent Alexander-Arnold's side, Tsimikas gets forward more than Robertson, seen in his eight crosses in Saturday's win over Everton. Throw in a role on set pieces and Tsimikas is a priority add to use until Robertson returns.

Matt Doherty (27 percent): Doherty made his first start of the season at the weekend filling in for the suspended Nelson Semedo and scoring 15.25 points on the back of three crosses, three tackles and three fouls drawn. That's an impressive return without a goal or an assist, but the issue with Doherty is that he may return to the bench immediately with Semedo eligible for selection again this week. As usual, keep an eye on starting XIs ahead of Wolverhampton's next match.

MIDFIELDERS

Scott McTominay (25 percent): McTominay is on a run of excellent form with three goals in his last two Premier League matches despite playing just 64 minutes. This doesn't include the ridiculous form he's on for the Scotland national team. Therein lies the question with McTominay since minutes aren't guaranteed once Casemiro is available again, especially now that Sofyan Amrabat is in the team. Still, he's worth a flier while he's in this form as it should be difficult for Erik ten Hag to bench him.

David Brooks (nine percent): It's a blast from the past as Brooks made his first start since the opening week of the season Saturday, scoring seven points in a 2-1 loss to Wolves. Brooks has missed a lot of time the past few seasons as he underwent cancer treatment, but he has a pedigree as a strong Fantrax style player for managers as someone who can score, assist, cross and create chances with some regularity. It's unknown if Brooks will continue to secure starts for Bournemouth and even if he does, he's unlikely to play 90 minutes most matches.

FORWARDS

Chiedozie Ogbene (three percent): Starting a Luton Town forward is never that appealing, but Ogbene has started five straight matches with scores of 9.5, seven and 18 coming from Saturday's 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest where he scored his first Premier League goal. The skillset from a Fantrax perspective is solid as Ogbene has crossed 27 times and created six chances over the five starts and while he won't be an every week option, the floor is clearly there.

Chris Wood (nine percent): Wood's rostership only went up six percent after last week's article, but hopefully you were one of the lucky ones who got to cash in on his 32-point brace against Luton Town. If you missed out on Wood last week, this is probably the last chance to get him under 50 percent and while the returns probably won't be this bountiful again, he remains a starting No. 9 who is readily available on waivers. A rarity.
