Dream11 Fantasy Soccer: Borussia Dortmund v. Mainz Preview

This article is part of our Dream11 Fantasy Soccer series.

Game Preview

Borussia Dortmund's title chances are officially over now that Bayern Munich defeated Werder Bremen on Tuesday, which means Lucien Favre's men have barely anything to play for. With three games left in the standings, Dortmund are in second place and have a four-point edge over RB Leipzig, and they already clinched a spot in the 2020-21 UEFA Champions League group stage. Mainz couldn't be in a more different situation, however. The visitors are in 15th with 31 points and sit just three above the relegation zone. A win – or any positive result here – could go a long way towards avoiding a play-off match or direct relegation. That being said, they can show a bit of confidence since they are W2, D2, L1 in their last five away contests.

Recent Form

Borussia Dortmund: W4, L1

Mainz: W1, D1, L3

Top Picks

Jadon Sancho, Dortmund: Haaland could be a very popular captain due to his impressive goal-scoring record, but Sancho has been more creative overall and has had a hand in more direct goals than the Norwegian striker. The Englishman has 17 goals and 16 assists this season.

Erling Haaland, Dortmund: Haaland can't be ruled out of the captaincy talk, however. He found the back of the net last week and, even though he hasn't scored at will like he did earlier this season, continues to be a dangerous man who can find the back of the net at almost 1.0 goal per game.

Captain and Vice-Captain Options

  1. Jadon Sancho
  2. Achraf Hakimi
  3. Erling Haaland
  4. Raphael Guerreiro
