PLAYER RECOMMENDATIONS

GOALKEEPER

Jan Oblak, ATL v. PSV ($5,800): As the most expensive keeper on the slate, you are getting the second-most likely winner, behind only Barcelona, and the most-likely one to keep a clean sheet. The strong center-back tandem of Diego Godin and Stefan Savic combined with Oblak's top-notch save-making ability makes this the safe spot to spend your salary cap in terms of goalkeeper.

Yann Sommer, BOR v. MCI ($4,200): Sommer made seven saves in the last fixture in Manchester but will look to improve on the four goals allowed at the home ground. In what figures to be an active game offensively on both ends, Sommer will be given the opportunity to make several saves, giving him suitable upside at this price.

DEFENDER

Faouzi Ghoulam, NAP v. DYN ($5,600): In his last two Champions League matches, Ghoulam totaled 23 crosses. His combo of corners and open-field crosses gives the Algerian left-back among the higher floors on the slate regardless of position.

Thomas Meunier, PSG at ARS ($4,300): In one UCL start, Meunier had both a goal and an assist on four shots. While just one cross is a slight concern, every other game started by Meunier has resulted in multiple crosses, so it shouldn't be too much of a concern. The possible absence of Angel Di Maria could lead to more crossing potential from Meunier as well.

Natanael Pimienta, LUD v. BSL ($4,000): This is Ludogorets' first UCL match in which they are favored. Pimienta lacks the upside of either Ghoulam or Meunier, but his contributions on both sides of the field give him solid prospects at his price in as favorable of a matchup as he'll see.

MIDFIELDER

Mesut Ozil, ARS v. PSG ($8,100): The continued absence of Santi Cazorla puts Ozil on a larger quantity of the Gunners' corners. Ozil comes in on the heels of two of his better games ever in the Champions League, scoring four goals, assisting on two others and sending in 17 crosses (both games were against Ludogorets).

Thorgan Hazard, BOR v. MCI ($7,300): In three home UCL matches this season, Hazard has 51, 18 and 24 fantasy points, respectively, scoring or assisting in each match. Manchester City is a tough opponent, but given the high overall expectation of goals, I think there are viable offensive threats on both sides of the field.

Wanderson, LUD v. BSL ($5,800): Drawing a favorable matchup, Wanderson will look to build on the solid 18 fantasy points he had last time out against Arsenal. In that match, the Brazilian contributed one assist in addition to two shots (both on goal), four crosses and four fouls drawn.

FORWARD

Lionel Messi, BAR at CEL ($10,400): After missing last weekend's La Liga match, Messi and Luis Suarez will both make their first starts since the international break. With the overall suppressed pricing, Messi becomes extremely attractive, as you don't necessarily need to sacrifice too much quality in the rest of your lineup to afford him. Thus far in the Champions League, Messi has seven goals and two assists in just three appearances, which means he's contributing to three goals per game in UCL play.

Yannick Carrasco, ATL v. PSV ($8,000): Carrasco has been Atletico's most active all-around attacking threat of late. Despite the ugly score line last time out in a loss to Real Madrid (3-0), Carrasco was quite productive with six shots (four on target), eight crosses and three fouls drawn. He also took eight shots in his last Champions League game.

Lorenzo Insigne, NAP v. DYK ($6,700): Insigne comes in off his best performance of the year, scoring twice on four shots against Udinese. While his goal total still trails the likes of Jose Callejon, Arkadiusz Milik (knee) and Marek Hamsik, Insigne has averaged more shots per game than all of them.
