Dean Thompson

TRICON Garage
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Thompson returns for another season in the No. 5 TRICON entry. The young driver had a rough ride last season posting just five Top-10 finishes vs. 10 DNF's. The inconsistency and struggles overshadowed some of the better performances. However, Thompson showed some real upside heading into the off-season. He would nab two Top-10 finishes in the final three events of 2023 and end the campaign on a high note. TRICON is an up-and-coming team that is growing and they've shown a vote of confidence in Thompson. We should expect better results and more consistency from him in the upcoming season, but he won't be ready to win just yet. Read Past Outlooks
Third in Love's RV Stop 250
Craftsman Truck Series
September 30, 2023
Thompson finished third in the Love's RV Stop 250 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Talladega Superspeedway Saturday afternoon.
ANALYSIS
After a strong qualifying effort, Thompson would race among the leaders all afternoon at the big Talladega oval. He would be a face among the Top 10 for the full 250 miles. When a late major accident set up NASCAR overtime, Thompson would restart fifth and make the most of the opportunity to race for the win. He'd cross the finish line one spot ahead of Chandler Smith to secure the impressive third-place finish. It was just his second-career Top 5.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Thompson's rookie season was a rough and tumble affair. He'd collect just four Top-15 finishes vs. five DNF's. Thompson has moved on from Niece Motorsports and will join the growing TRICON Garage team in 2023. He'll pilot the No. 5 Toyota and look to build greater performance and consistency in the upcoming season. Thompson limped to a distant 23rd-place finish in the final driver standings of last year, and we expect he'll improve marginally on that in the upcoming campaign. His crew chief at the No. 5 team has not been announced at the time of this writing, but whomever that is will play a very important part in Thompson's continued development.
