XFINITY Series
December 26, 2013
Long announced on his website that he's forming his own Nationwide Series race team for the 2014 season, carllongmotorsports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The driver will now become an owner also and move to the Nationwide Series full-time in 2014. Long has acquired some former Penske Racing Dodge chassis and will look for a race shop and sponsors for a full Nationwide effort in the upcoming season. There will be a lot of headwinds, but it sounds like Long is well on his way to being his own boss behind the wheel.

Long has moved more into the ownership side of the sport and has not raced since 2020. He's not likely to run any events in 2022.
Made just one start in his No. 66 Toyota last season. It was a 32nd-place finish at Martinsville. Long has shifted more to the ownership side of racing and away from the driving side the last couple seasons. We may see him make a one-off or two-off start again in 2021.
Made 2 starts in the Xfinity Series last season for MBM in the No. 13 Toyota. 2020 plans have not been announced for this 52-year-old veteran driver.
The team hasn't announced their 2019 plans as of this writing, but they are expected to attempt the full schedule again this season. The No. 66 Toyota attempted and made all the races but one last season. Timmy Hill was the majority pilot with 18 starts. Long was second with six starts. The effort was little more than a start-and-park operation. The team DNF'd 20 of the 33 races, and one DNQ, so it wasn't a competitive ride. The reality is they're probably poised for a similar effort this season.
Made 11 starts in 2017 with his own small race team. Mostly a start-and-park operation. 2018 plans have not been announced.
Long made 15 starts last season for this small team, in what was mostly a start-and-park effort. He should race in the same capacity in 2016.
Long is a free agent driver in 2013.
