The 30-year-old veteran raced in just nine of 22 events last season as an owner/driver of the No. 3 Chevrolet. He had good impact in those limited starts in a driver rotation. Anderson grabbed one Top-5 and two Top-10 finishes in those nine starts. Superspeedway racing was the team's strength, and that's something to remember in weekly lineup and daily fantasy leagues. Anderson's other drivers weren't as successful as him last season. No plans for 2022 have been announced at this point, but this team's success seems largely pinned to how much Anderson races vs. other people in the driver's seat.
With now over 100-career truck series starts to his credit, Anderson has become one of the veteran drivers in this division of NASCAR. He will return as the owner/driver of his No. 3 Chevy Silverado in 2020. Anderson earned seven Top-15 finishes vs. just three DNF's last season. The inability to collect Top 10's is a limiting factor, but Anderson generally races competitively and generally finishes races on or near the lead lap. It all added up to a 19.5 average finish for the campaign and 16th-place points finish. Anderson will lean on crew chief Wally Rogers once again to improve this small race team.
The veteran driver from South Carolina posted a career-best campaign with this team last year. Anderson raced the No. 3 Chevrolet to two Top-10 and three Top-15 finishes to earn a career-best 15th-place finish in the final Gander Outdoors Truck Series standings. The average finish of 19.5 was also a career best, but needs some improvement in 2019. Plans for this race team have not been announced as of this writing, but it's expected that Anderson will return for another season with this race team. With sponsorship and funding looking pretty good, and Kevin Eagle should return in the crew chief position. Now with 79-career starts in this racing series, Anderson should be ready to step it up a notch.
Anderson has acquired four trucks. They are a mix of Chevrolets and Toyotas. He will race the full season with his own race team. Anderson started most of the schedule last year, and battled all kinds of struggles during the campaign. Anderson would race to just four Top-15 finishes in the No. 1 Chevy Silverado, but pile up seven DNF's as the team had many mechanical issues. That will hopefully improve in the upcoming season. Now with 57-career series starts under his belt, Anderson has the experience to make this team work, but much of their potential will rely on better equipment and funding to make that happen.
