ANALYSIS
The 28-year-old first baseman/corner outfielder will make the jump to Japan after a 10-year run in affiliated ball as a member of the Washington Nationals and Seattle Mariners organizations. Marmolejos split time between Seattle and its Triple-A affiliate in Tacoma, slashing .338/.439/.672 with 26 home runs across 353 plate appearances with the latter squad. While Marmolejos wasn't able to translate his minor-league success at the dish to the majors over the past two seasons, he could emerge as a premier power bat in the NPB, where pitchers compare more favorably with Triple-A competition.
