It's a crushing defeat for Oliveira in a fight in which he entered as a -140 favorite. After a fairly even opening frame, Oliveira got caught with a kick which forced him up against the fence at which point a pair of knees put him away for good. The 31-year-old Brazilian earned his UFC opportunity with a split decision win on Dana White's Contender Series in September 2021. He has since gone on to lose each of his first two official bouts with the company. It's far from a guarantee he receives a third chance.

Unfortunately for the Brazilian, it wasn't meant to be, and it was all downhill from there. To say Oliveira had no answers for Gravely's wrestling game would be the understatement of the century. He allowed his opponent to connect on 11-of-15 attempts, essentially eliminating any chance Saimon had of potentially getting back in the fight. Gravely is a tough guy to face in your company debu,t and it wouldn't be the least bit surprising if Oliveira fares a bit better his next time out, but he's going to have difficulty winning fights at this level unless his takedown defense improves.
