Drops razor-thin split decision
Rowe lost to Neil Magny via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 28-29) at UFC on ABC 5 on Saturday in Jacksonville, Florida.
ANALYSIS
Good luck finding a fight where the two competitors are more evenly matched than this one. Neither man was able to gain any sort of traction, with Rowe consistently landing the bigger shots while Magny had the volume edge. This was a significant step up in competition for Rowe, especially considering all the high-level opposition Magny has faced in the past, and he responded with a very solid effort despite the setback. It was also nice to see Phil have no issues with the scale after missing weight for two of his prior three bouts. Set to turn 33 years of age in mid July, Rowe is 3-2 in his first five UFC bouts

Wins after missing weight
Rowe defeated Niko Price via TKO (punches) at 3:26 of Round 3 at UFC on ESPN 42 on Saturday in Orlando.
ANALYSIS
It's a huge win for Rowe that is somewhat muted by the fact he missed weight by 2.5 pounds Friday morning. He had to forfeit 30 percent of his fight purse to Price in order for the bout to proceed. Inside the Octagon, Rowe possessed a clear technical edge in what was primarily a stand-up affair. He won each of the first two rounds before nearly being finished early in Round 3. The fact he was not only able to survive but turn the tables and earn the stoppage win was primarily the result of Price gassing out and having nothing left in the tank. Still, a win is a win. The 32-year-old Rowe has won three straight dating back to July 2021.

Penalized for missing weight limit
