Rodriguez is scheduled to compete against Kevin Borjas in a flyweight fight at UFC Mexico on March 29, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Rodriguez made his UFC debut in 2024, which was a strong year for the flyweight. He forced a last-second submission to Denys Bondar in his UFC debut and followed that up by outlasting Ode Osbourne via decision at Noche UFC in September. On the momentum side, Rodriguez is favored over Borjas, who is still looking for his first win with the promotion.

Digs deep to earn UFC 306 win
FlyweightUFC
September 14, 2024
Rodriguez defeated Ode Osbourne via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-27, 29-27) at UFC 306 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
The fact Rodriguez managed to win this fight is nothing short of a miracle considering the trouble he found himself in throughout the opening round. He was knocked down by Osbourne extremely early on and managed to survive. He then found himself in about the deepest triangle choke you will ever see. Again, Rodriguez pulled through. He flipped the script on Osbourne completely in Round 2, earning a 10-8 score from two of the judges. He then went out and won Round 3 on all three scorecards. While Ronaldo's ability to dig deep and persevere is remarkable, but he can't count on that every time out. He doesn't get his head off the center line and absorbs far too much damage. If Osbourne didn't gas out, he would have lost this fight. The 25-year-old Rodriguez, now 2-0 in the UFC, has plenty of work on before his next bout.
Taking on Osbourne in September
FlyweightUFC
July 4, 2024
Rodriguez will face Ode Osbourne at Noche UFC at the Sphere in Las Vegas on September 14, per Carlos Legaspi of ESPNDeportes.espn.com.
ANALYSIS
Rodriguez will head into the bout riding a six-fight win streak across promotions, including a second-round submission victory over Denys Bondar in his UFC debut. The five-foot-six Mexican will hope to overcome a size and reach disadvantage in comparison to the older Osbourne. With just a 3-2 record in decision fights and a 13-0 record in all other finishes, Rodriguez will likely be hoping for an early finish.
Submission win in UFC debut
FlyweightUFC
February 24, 2024
Rodriguez defeated Denys Bondar via submission (rear-naked choke) at 4:59 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Mexico City.
ANALYSIS
When we last saw Rodriguez, he was dropping a unanimous decision on Dana White's Contender Series in August 2020. He followed that up by winning five straight fights on the regional scene to earn his opportunity here in his native Mexico. Facing an opponent in Bondar in search of his first UFC win, Rodriguez struggled to defend the takedown, but to his credit, consistently worked to improve to a better position. That hard work led to Bondar giving up his back late in Round 2, and Rodriguez took advantage, clamping on a rear-naked choke to earn the win. Ronaldo's future upside is entirely tied to the fact he won't be 25 years of age until this coming May.
UFC debut scheduled
FlyweightUFC
January 9, 2024
Rodriguez is scheduled to compete against Denys Bondar in a flyweight fight at UFC Mexico on Feb. 24, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Rodriguez will fight at flyweight for his first UFC fight at Mexico City. There, he will take on a 14-4 flyweight currently 0-2 in the UFC and still looking for his first win with the promotion.
Signs with UFC
FlyweightUFC
January 8, 2024
Rodriguez has signed with the UFC and expects to debut at UFC Mexico City on Feb. 24, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Rodriguez took a unanimous decision feat on Dana White's Contender Series all the way back in August of 2020, and while he clearly didn't get a contract there, he went on to rattle five consecutive victories on the regional scenes. The 24-year-old bantamweight currently sports a 16-2-0 professional record and will get a chance to debut in his home country, though the promotion has yet to officially designate an opponent.
